Malaysia Visa Information

Nationals of certain countries can visit Malaysia for up to three months without a visa but will need to be granted a work visa or permit to take up employment.

Commonwealth citizens (except for India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka), British protected persons or citizens of the Republic of Ireland and citizens of Switzerland, the Netherlands, San Marino and Liechtenstein do not need a visa to enter Malaysia.

Citizens of certain countries which include Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Japan, Republic of Korea, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Turkey, Italy, United Arab Emirates and the United States of America do not require a visa for a visit not exceeding three months.

 

Citizens of European Countries, Baltic and Commonwealth of Independent States, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Romania and Syria do not need a visa for a visit not exceeding two weeks.

Citizens of North Korea, Cuba, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the People’s Republic of China and holders of Hong Kong Certificate of Identify, Myanmar and Taiwan are allowed to enter Malaysia subject to their application for a visa being approved.

Nationals of countries not mentioned above will need a visa to visit Malaysia

Malaysia My Second Home program

The Malaysia My Second Home program is an immigration scheme open to nearly all foreign citizens wishing to retire or live in Malaysia on a long-term basis. Your spouse and children can also immigrate. Here are some of the key benefits of the program:

  • You maintain your original citizenship and are free to travel as often as you like.

Who is eligible

You are eligible to participate in Malaysia My Second Home program if you can show that:

(if you are above 50 years of age)

  • you have at least RM 100,000.00 (equivalent to USD26,315.79*) to be deposited in a bank in Malaysia, or your income is at least RM7,000.00 (equivalent to USD1,842.10* per month) if you are single, or

  • you have at least RM 150,000.00 (equivalent to USD39,473.68*) to be deposited in a bank in Malaysia, or your income is at least RM10,000.00 (equivalent to USD2,631.58* per month) if you are a couple,

(if you are below 50 years of age)

  • you have at least RM 100,000.00 (equivalent to USD26,315.79*) to be deposited in a bank in Malaysia, and your income is at least RM7,000.00 (equivalent to USD1,842.10* per month) if you are single, or

  • you have at least RM150,000.00 (equivalent to USD39,473.68*) to be deposited in a bank in Malaysia, and your income is at least RM10,000.00 (equivalent to USD2,631.58* per month) if you are a couple,

(*USD1.00 = RM3.8)

Permanent Resident

Entry Permit : Entry Permit (EP) is a permit issued to foreigners who are not citizen of Malaysia entering to reside in this country. Those who have been issued with EP are exempted from applying for any type of Pass either for employment or other purpose.

( I ) Conditions :  Wife of Malaysian Citizen residing in this country on long stay Social Visit Pass / Temporary Employment Pass / Employment Pass on a year-to-year renewable basis CONTINOUSLY for 5 years or more.

Application : Application can be made using an IM.4 Pin 1/93 Form with a local sponsor by husband of applicant.

The payment for issuance of Entry Permit is RM 120.00

( II ) Conditions :  Children of Malaysian Citizen below 6 years old.

Application : Application can be made using an IM.4 Pin 1/93 Form sponsor by father / mother / close relative of applicant who is Malaysian Citizen / Permanent Resident of Malaysia.

( III ) Conditions : Spouse and children of Malaysian Citizen who posess expertise / skills and overseas working experience, planning to return and work in Malaysia (under the programme to encourage Malaysian Citizens with expertise residing overseas to return to Malaysia).

Application : Approval of this application will be given within 6 months from the date submition to the Immigration Department.

 

Certificate of Identity

Purpose

This Certificate of Identity is a travel document issued to Permanent Resident of Malaysia who are stateless. 


Validity 

Five (5) years from the date of issue and can be renewed for another five (5) years.
